There's a girl you know very well. You like her
--sometimes-- but you are not very nice to her. In
fact, you don't treat her very well at all. You
laugh at her. You pick at her "faults". She can
never do anything right in your eyes. She's easy
for you to pick on because she lives near by, and
she so wants to please you.
That girl is you. Think of yourself as a separate
person. Then, walk around that person looking her
over and picking out her strengths and
weaknesses. Write down the strengths and
weaknesses on a piece of paper.
Now, resolve to spend a day-- 24 hours-- only
thinking positive things about that person. If you
have a negative thought, start over with a new 24
hour period. End the exercise only when you make
it through an entire 24 hours without a single
negative thought about that person.
That person is you. Stop talking about her behind
her back. If you can't say something good about
her, say nothing at all.
